The Adamawa State Police Command has confirmed fresh outbreaks of violence in Lafiya and Boshikiri villages, located in Lamurde and Guyuk Local Government Areas, respectively.

In a statement issued Thursday, the command’s Public Relations Officer, Suleiman Nguroje, said unknown individuals were responsible for setting fire to multiple thatched huts in both communities.

“Unidentified persons set fire to thatched huts in Lafiya (Lamurde LGA) and Boshikiri village (Guyuk LGA). Properties belonging to Mrs. Ododumga Kenneth and Mr. Nura Haruna were destroyed in the attacks,” Nguroje said.

The police described the acts as “mischief by fire” and noted that the incidents occurred on Wednesday.

The violence is said to be a recurring crisis in the region, typically erupting during the farming season between the two bordering local government areas.

In response, Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, has ordered a discreet investigation and deployed additional police personnel to the affected areas to prevent further escalation.

“Anyone found instigating violence or engaging in criminal acts will be decisively dealt with in accordance with the law,” CP Morris warned.

He also urged residents to maintain peace and cooperate with security operatives.

“We call on the public to remain calm and assist the police by reporting any suspicious movement or activity for prompt action,” the command stated.
