Cristiano Ronaldo has expressed heartbreak over the deaths of his Portuguese national teammate, Diogo Jota, and Jota’s younger brother, André Silva, who both died in a fatal car crash in Spain.
Ronaldo, in a post on Instagram on Thursday, described the loss as shocking and senseless.
“Doesn’t make any sense. Just now we were together in the National Team, just now you were married,” Ronaldo said.
He offered heartfelt condolences to the family, including Jota’s wife and children.
“To your family, to your wife and children, I send my condolences and wish them all the strength in the world. I know you will always be with them,” he wrote.
Ronaldo ended the message with a final tribute.
“R.I.P. Diogo and Andre. We will all miss you.”
Jota, 28, and André, 25, reportedly died in a car crash in Spain, leading to an outpouring of grief across the global football community. Clubs, fans, and players have continued to share tributes and memories of the pair.
