The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has announced the total and permanent cancellation of the Monday sit-at-home directive across the South-East, stating that normal activities should resume fully from Monday, February 9, 2026.

In a press statement issued on February 8, 2026, and signed by its spokesperson, Emma Powerful, the group said the decision was made under the directive of its detained leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. According to the statement, residents across the region have been urged to return to work, reopen markets, resume transportation services, and allow children to attend school without fear.

The statement emphasized that any individual or group attempting to enforce sit-at-home orders going forward would be acting contrary to Kanu’s directive. IPOB also alleged that some actors might attempt to create fear through intimidation or false operations, while urging residents to remain calm and law-abiding.

In addition, the group warned against alleged intimidation or forced shutdown of businesses by state authorities, stressing that traders who voluntarily choose to stay at home should not face threats or demolition. IPOB also called for stakeholder engagement and proper arrangements before any market relocation or renovation projects are undertaken.
